About The Role
As a Staff Android Engineer at Capital One Canada, you will play a pivotal role in leading the development of our mobile applications, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and security. This position requires advanced hands-on expertise in Android application development, along with a strategic mindset for technical design and architecture. You will be responsible for motivating, managing, and inspiring a team of software engineers to deliver innovative products that enhance our customers' financial lives.

Some of our flagship initiatives include Credit Keeper, which enables customers to view and monitor their credit scores, and Quick Check, allowing users to determine their credit card approval odds before applying. We are committed to adopting the latest cloud technologies, open source solutions, RESTful APIs, microservices, and containerization to deliver rapid, scalable, and secure solutions to our users. Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience developing native Android applications using Java and Kotlin.
• Extensive experience in application and data design, architecture, and development.
• Proficiency with RxJava, Coroutines, Dagger, Espresso, JUnit, and Jenkins for testing and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proven ability to mentor junior and intermediate developers, providing guidance and technical leadership.
• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical design, architecture, and development of cross-platform application systems, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
• Collaborate within a dynamic mobile development team throughout the entire Software Development Life Cycle, from planning to deployment.
• Enhance software engineering practices by working within agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions using a variety of development tools and technologies.
• Provide expertise on how emerging technologies impact the domain, and incorporate best practices into project workflows.
• Mentor and guide junior, intermediate, and senior mobile engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
