Electrical Engineer - Intern (Summer 2027)

Overview

Joby Aviation is seeking a motivated and organized electrical engineering intern to join our Electrical Engineering team. During this internship, you will be embedded within a small team of engineers, and will contribute directly towards the design, validation, and test development of our revolutionary electric air taxi. Joby is looking for candidates with hands-on experience working with electronics on projects/clubs. The ideal candidate is energetic, has a positive attitude, is flexible and excited about learning. Expect an internship that is similar to a job you would have when you graduate. Exact details are unknown at this point, but you will not be bored. The level of responsibilities will depend on your ability to complete tasks and the specific team that you join! You will work out of our San Carlos or Santa Cruz CA location depending on various factors.

Responsibilities

• Board design
• System integration and test
• Validation test setup and operation
• Board-level rework and soldering
• Functional testing
• Creating a test setup

Required

• Pursuing B.S./M.S. in electrical engineering, computer engineering or computer science
• Heading into junior or senior year of undergraduate degree or above at time of internship
• Available Summer 2027
• Strong problem solving and communication skills
• Willingness to learn, be mentored, and improve
• Passionate about engineering

Desired

• Experience with electronics CAD (Altium preferred but other systems acceptable)
• Ability to develop in Python scripts
• Experience making or testing or other hands on experience with actual hardware or software; especially personal project not related to work or school

Additional Information

Relocation Assistance: This position does not offer relocation assistance. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

The pay range for undergraduate interns, which includes freshman to senior level students, is: $22.00 - $31.00/ hour. The pay range for graduate interns with a Bachelor, Master, and/or Ph.D. degree is $5,550 - $7,800/ month. Individual pay is determined by internship role, department, experience, job-related skills, and level of education.
