Responsibilities include scheduling, equipment maintenance, trail monitoring, safety compliance, and adapting to changing conditions to ensure safe and memorable guest experiences.
Lead the Adventure at Lone Mountain Ranch
The Activities Manager leads Lone Mountain Ranch’s Nordic/Nature department, overseeing the people, programming, and operational details behind the outdoor experiences that connect our guests to the Ranch and surrounding landscape.
This is an active leadership role for someone who understands outdoor recreation and knows how to build a well-organized, accountable, and enthusiastic team. From scheduling guides and maintaining equipment to monitoring trails, supporting permitting requirements, and adapting to changing conditions, the Activities Manager ensures the department is prepared to deliver safe, memorable experiences throughout the season.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Nordic/Nature department and oversee the delivery of seasonal outdoor activities.
- Build and manage department schedules based on reservations, staffing, guide qualifications, and operational needs.
- Lead, coach, train, and hold team members accountable while fostering a positive and productive team environment.
- Ensure activities are properly staffed, organized, and prepared for safe and consistent execution.
- Maintain strong knowledge of Ranch trails, terrain, activities, and seasonal conditions.
- Oversee the care, organization, maintenance, and timely replacement or purchase of activity equipment.
- Monitor trails, signage, activity areas, and other operational resources and coordinate necessary maintenance.
- Maintain department procedures, safety practices, records, and operational documentation.
- Maintain and update documentation necessary for our continued partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and applicable permitting requirements.
- Respond appropriately to changing weather, wildlife, trail, and operating conditions.
- Collaborate across departments to support seamless guest experiences and broader Ranch operations.
Who Thrives Here
You’ll do well in this role if you are an experienced leader who enjoys being outdoors as much as you enjoy building a strong team. You notice the details, stay organized when plans change, and understand that successful outdoor programming depends on preparation, communication, follow-through, and sound judgment.
You’re comfortable balancing schedules, people, equipment, safety, and guest expectations—and you’re willing to step into the operation alongside your team when needed.
What You’ll Bring
- Previous leadership or management experience, preferably in outdoor recreation, hospitality, guiding, or a related environment.
- Strong outdoor recreation experience, with hiking and skiing experience strongly preferred.
- Experience building employee schedules and coordinating staffing around changing operational demands.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, organize, and hold a team accountable.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Sound judgment and the ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions and priorities.
- Experience maintaining equipment, operational resources, and safety standards.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office and scheduling, reservation, or property-management systems.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to safely drive in varying seasonal and weather conditions.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of an active outdoor recreation operation, including navigating uneven terrain and lifting and carrying equipment up to 40 pounds.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and other hours based on seasonal and operational needs.
