
Assistant Project Manager
Role summary
Pike is seeking an Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support the delivery of distribution and transmission construction projects for utility clients. The APM will be involved in estimating, scheduling, procurement, financial tracking, and project coordination, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, strong project management principles, financial controls, and Microsoft Office proficiency. The APM will play a key role in client and team coordination, with opportunities for growth into a Project Manager position.
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the successful delivery of distribution and transmission construction projects across Pike’s utility clients. This role is responsible for
estimating, scheduling, procurement, financial tracking, and project coordination
—ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
APMs play a key role in connecting field operations, clients, and internal teams while developing the skills needed to grow into full project leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Support projects from pre-construction through completion, including
estimating, scheduling, and cost tracking
- Monitor
budget vs. actuals
, manage forecasts, and provide weekly project updates
- Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth execution
- Manage
procurement, contracts, and change orders
- Maintain strong client relationships and support ongoing communication
- Ensure field teams have the information and resources needed for efficient execution
- Apply
risk management and financial controls
to protect project performance
- Assist with
storm response and emergency restoration efforts
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in
Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Strong understanding of
project management principles and financial controls
- Proficiency in
Microsoft Office
(MS Project/Primavera a plus)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- Highly organized, self-driven, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
