Role summary

Rune Technologies is seeking a Technical Operations Specialist to join its Mission Success organization. This role bridges quality assurance, customer training, deployment support, and field operations for military logistics software. The specialist will test new releases, prepare deployment packages, train users, collect feedback, and provide hands-on technical support in customer environments. The ideal candidate has 1-4 years of relevant technical experience, a basic understanding of hardware, operating systems, and networking, and exceptional communication skills, particularly with military users. Familiarity with military operations and logistics systems is preferred. This is a hands-on role for someone eager to learn and operate in high-stakes environments.

About Rune

Rune Technologies builds mission-critical software for military logistics and sustainment. Our flagship product is TyrOS, an AI-enabled logistics command and control platform that gives commanders a single, real-time operating picture of their sustainment fight, from inventory and distribution to medical and operational planning, even in degraded and contested environments.

We're not a traditional defense contractor. We're a small, fast-moving team that combines deep operational experience in and with the DoD with the software discipline of the best product companies, and we apply that combination to a customer set that desperately needs it. We stay close to our users by embedding directly with military units during exercises and rotations, and we ship constantly based on what we learn.

The U.S. military and its allies face a real logistics modernization problem. We're building the software to solve it.

About the Role

As a Technical Operations Specialist on Rune’s Mission Success team, you sit between product quality, user training, and field deployment. You help make sure Rune software and hardware are ready for military users before they leave HQ, and you support those same users when products go into the field. At HQ, most of your work is QA testing, training material development, and product readiness. In the field, you help deploy Rune products, manage software updates, train military users, and capture feedback that shapes future product improvements. This is a hands-on role for someone with military experience who communicates clearly, picks up new tools quickly, and cares about getting the product right for the soldiers, Marines, airmen, and operators who use it.

What You’ll Do

  • Quality Assurance and Product Readiness

    • Perform QA testing on new Rune software releases, including TyrOS, before they reach customers, with an eye toward whether workflows make sense for real military users.

    • Work through the product the way an operator would, planning missions, managing sustainment data, updating statuses, and moving through workflows, and flag bugs, confusing steps, and training gaps.

    • Test end-to-end scenarios to help confirm products are ready for exercises, demos, and customer deployments.

    • Clearly document what you find and why it matters operationally.

    Training and User Adoption

    • Create practical training materials, including demos, guides, and step-by-step instructions for software and hardware use.

    • Train military users virtually, in classrooms, and in the field.

    • Help new users adopt Rune products quickly and confidently.

    Deployment and Field Support

    • Prepare deployment packages that include software, hardware, documentation, and training materials.

    • Provide hands-on technical support at customer sites and in forward-deployed environments, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and software updates.

    • Capture user feedback from training, exercises, and deployments, and share clear observations with product and engineering.

    • Help build runbooks and a troubleshooting knowledge base so field fixes are repeatable.

Qualifications

  • 1 to 4 years of prior U.S. military experience training personnel on new systems, equipment, or procedures, ideally in logistics, sustainment, maintenance, inventory or asset tracking, military signal, automation, or related technical support roles.

  • Hands-on technical experience, such as help desk, field service, systems administration, or military signal, automation, or logistics roles.

  • Active U.S. Secret security clearance.

  • Availability to work onsite in Seattle, Wa.

  • Ability to travel to customer sites, military bases, exercises, and field events as required.

  • Basic understanding of computer hardware (CPUs, RAM, storage, cables, peripherals) and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, Ethernet, IP addressing, connectivity troubleshooting, and basic network configuration).

  • Comfortable working in Windows and Linux environments, including basic command-line use.

  • Strong attention to detail and comfort working carefully through software workflows, edge cases, and operational scenarios.

  • Strong communication skills with military users and non-technical stakeholders, including interest in teaching through classroom instruction, field training, virtual sessions, and written materials.

  • Ability to operate effectively in high-stakes environments with a bias toward getting things done.

  • Eagerness to learn new tools, products, and processes in a fast-moving team, with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree preferred.

  • Familiarity with Army, Marine Corps, Air Force, or joint logistics systems, reporting processes, maintenance workflows, or sustainment operations.

  • Experience building training content such as demos, SOPs, job aids, or walkthroughs.

  • Comfortable troubleshooting computers, radios, networks, software, printers, servers, tactical systems, or other technical equipment in the field.

  • Familiarity with Linux, logs, databases, or basic scripting, or a strong willingness to learn.

  • Experience in field environments such as exercises, command posts, tactical operations centers, maintenance bays, supply rooms, or deployments.Ability to travel to customer sites, military bases, exercises, and field events as required.

Why This Role

  • You will help bring modern software to the military users who need it most.

  • You will turn your operational experience into better products, better training, and better deployments.

  • You will help make sure Rune’s software works for soldiers and operators in the real world.
