Role summary
Scout is seeking a Regional Medical Director (RMD) to provide clinical and business leadership across their region. This role involves supervising Lead Veterinarians and staff veterinarians, driving growth, ensuring medical excellence, and supporting doctor development. The RMD will partner with executive leadership on business operations, including P&L analysis, staffing, and resource planning, while also ensuring regulatory compliance and cultivating referral partnerships. The ideal candidate is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with 7+ years of practice experience and demonstrated leadership in a similar role, possessing strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
Job SummaryThe Regional Medical Director (RMD) serves as a key clinical and business leadership partner across their region, supervising the region’s Lead Veterinarians and working closely with Hospital Directors and executive leadership to drive growth, uphold medical excellence, and reinforce Scout’s culture and values across all locations. Scout does not yet have Lead Veterinarians in place at every location; until a given location has one, the RMD directly supervises that location’s staff veterinarians, layering in the Lead Veterinarian as the supervising authority once that role is filled there. This role ensures consistent, high-quality patient care, supports doctor development, strengthens referral partnerships, and serves as the primary point of contact for regional business operations. As Scout continues to grow, dedicated regional operations support may be added alongside this role. Today, the RMD partners directly with executive leadership on business matters, and the scope of this partnership will be reassessed as the organization scales.
