Interns will assist in formulating policy papers, collect data for investigative studies, and write for CAGW’s publications, gaining insight into how Washington operates. Opportunities are available in specific policy areas like healthcare, science, technology, telecommunications, federal regulations, and taxation.
Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) offers a wide variety of opportunities to college students across the country. Unpaid research, communications, and government affairs internships are available on a year-round basis and can vary in length from a semester to a few weeks in duration. Interns can choose to work part-time or full-time, as hours of work are extremely flexible. Our daily work with Capitol Hill and the White House, as well as government agencies and other nonprofit organizations, provides a close and invaluable look at how Washington works. Many projects involve working closely with staff members, while others require a great deal of independence. Interns are considered important members of our staff and actively participate in staff meetings and other events. While interns will also be required to perform clerical duties from time to time, much of the work will be substantive. Research Internship Assist in formulating policy papers and collect data for original investigative studies. Research and write for CAGW’s annual publications, which include the Congressional Pig Book, Prime Cuts, Government WasteWatch eNews, and special projects, including issue briefs, and policy papers. Interns will have the opportunity to initiate projects. Research internships are also available in specific areas, including healthcare and science, technology and telecommunications, federal regulations and taxation. Interns may spend a majority of their time supporting the work above, but may also support other staff members as needed. This role is open to remote work, but priority is given to those available for in person work at our Washington, D.C office.
