Role summary
STR's Sensors Division is seeking a Senior Embedded Signal Processing Engineer for its Subsea and Seabed Systems (SSS) Group. This role involves designing, developing, and testing embedded software for undersea acoustic systems, focusing on signal processing algorithms for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) applications. The engineer will implement software on various hardware platforms, including low-power processors, and utilize modern development tools. Key responsibilities include optimizing real-time algorithms, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring software meets stringent performance requirements. Proficiency in C/C++, Python, Linux, and embedded systems is essential, along with a strong understanding of acoustic signal processing principles. An active security clearance and U.S. citizenship are required.
About the Team:
The Sensors Division within STR focuses on the development and analysis of advanced sensor systems in the RF, acoustic, and electro-optical domains. This includes the design and development of novel sensors and advanced information processing techniques from ideation to prototype implementations. The Subsea and Seabed Systems (SSS) Group develops and delivers advanced undersea sensor and signal processing systems related to intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) and counter-ISR applications.
The Role:
The SSS Group is hiring an embedded signal processing engineer to design, develop, and test embedded software implementing signal processing algorithms for distributed undersea acoustic systems. Key to this role is the ability to span signal processing theory & concepts, software development and coding practices, and development on real-time embedded processing hardware ranging from low size-weight-and-power (SWAP) to high performance.
Strong embedded coding with a range of languages (C++, python if supported, etc.) and experience implementing signal processing algorithms on low-power processors is expected. A successful candidate will also have working knowledge in multiple of the following areas: interfacing with analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters, analog and digital filters, build development containers, software development practices, mathematics, and/or scientific computing.
