Role summary
Thatch is seeking a Managing Product Counsel to serve as an embedded partner with Product, Engineering, and Design teams. This role involves advising on complex regulatory matters within the healthcare space, including ICHRA, ERISA, ACA, and TPA obligations, as well as privacy, data use, and AI-powered features. The counsel will also be responsible for reviewing in-product disclosures, user agreements, and identifying intellectual property assets. A key aspect of this role is building scalable legal processes, frameworks, and operations, such as launch checklists and playbooks, to enable teams to move quickly and safely. The ideal candidate will have a JD, 9+ years of legal practice with in-house experience supporting product and engineering, and knowledge of regulated consumer products, ideally within health insurance or employee benefits. Experience in AI governance, IP, or data protection law is a plus. The role offers a competitive salary range of $200,000 - $230,000 USD and is fully remote.
About Thatch
For most people, health insurance is something that happens to them: a plan chosen by someone else, with little room to fit their life. Thatch is changing that. We help companies give every employee a real healthcare budget instead of a one-size-fits-all plan, so people can choose the coverage and care that works for them, and employers get predictable costs they can control.
It’s a simple idea, but making it real means solving hard problems across healthcare, payments, and technology, and we’re just getting started. We look for people who like solving complex problems, use good judgment, and are comfortable working through ambiguity. People here care deeply about our customers, take real responsibility for what gets built, and are driven by doing work that matters.
About the role
Thatch's mission is to build a healthcare system that people love. Each part of that mission speaks to what it means to be product counsel at Thatch.
Build: You are an embedded partner with technical and operational teams, helping scope, design, and deliver amazing products for our customers.
A Healthcare System: Thatch is not just one product, and your work does not sit within a single domain. The platform is a system of partnerships, platforms, and products woven together to deliver great experiences to customers, and you will almost certainly not be an expert in all of it. You'll draw on your experience and learn new domains while providing practical guidance and systems that help Thatch build better, safer products fast.
That People Love: Our customers are at the center of it all. You'll bring a keen eye to the impact of your work on our customers and partners, to make their experience more than they could imagine. This is not hyperbole but the reality of working at the cutting edge of a rapidly changing industry.
