Role summary

The Advocates is seeking an experienced National Litigation Paralegal for its Seattle office to join its National Litigation Team. This role supports complex, multi-jurisdictional personal injury cases from filing through verdict, working closely with the Managing Attorney. Responsibilities include drafting legal documents, managing discovery, preparing for trial, maintaining case files, and communicating with clients. The ideal candidate has 7-10 years of litigation paralegal experience, 3+ years in personal injury, and experience supporting cases through trial. This hybrid role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to learn new rules quickly, and a compassionate approach.

Who We Are

The Advocates is a growing personal injury law firm with offices across the United States. We represent people injured by others' negligence, and we treat every client with care and respect. Our team cares about the people who come to us for help, and we work hard to get them the best possible results.

About the Role

Our Pacific Northwest office in Seattle is hiring an experienced, mission-driven National Litigation Paralegal to join our National Litigation Team. This small, close-knit team handles the firm's largest and most complex cases, in state and federal courts across the country.

You'll work closely with the team's Managing Attorney and support cases from filing through verdict. If you've taken cases to trial and want higher-stakes, multi-jurisdictional work where your skill makes a visible difference for clients, this role is for you.

What You'll Do

  • Draft pleadings, motions, and briefs, and file them in state and federal courts, including through PACER/CM-ECF
  • Learn and track the civil procedure, local rules, and deadlines of each new jurisdiction we litigate in
  • Lead trial preparation: exhibit and witness lists, trial notebooks, evidence, and briefs and appendices
  • Support the trial team in the courtroom, in Washington and nationally
  • Help draft and respond to interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission, and other discovery
  • Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes, and keep case files organized and current
  • Calendar hearings and deadlines, schedule depositions, and coordinate with witnesses and experts
  • Gather and analyze information from a variety of sources to help build each case
  • Serve as a main point of contact for clients: provide case updates, support case and care management, and guide them through discovery and depositions
  • What You Bring

    Required

  • 7–10 years of experience as a litigation paralegal
  • 3+ years of personal injury experience
  • Experience supporting at least one case through trial
  • Ability to learn new state and federal procedural rules quickly and work independently with little supervision
  • Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • You're likely a great fit if you are:

  • A sharp organizer who can untangle complex case details and keep workflows running smoothly
  • Calm under pressure and able to juggle competing deadlines without losing accuracy
  • A curious investigator who digs into research and turns it into clear, useful information for attorneys
  • Meticulous about records and details, because you know they win cases
  • Compassionate with injured people and their families during some of the hardest times of their lives
  • Location, Schedule & Travel

  • Hybrid schedule: After 90 days of employment, you'll work 3 days a week in our Seattle office (98121) and 2 days a week from home.
  • You must be able to attend in-person trials in Washington State.
  • You must be able to travel nationally for trials, occasionally and sometimes on short notice.
  • Compensation & Benefits

  • $110,000–$170,000, depending on experience
  • 401(k) with an employer match of up to 4%, starting after one year of employment
  • 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage, with optional buy-up plans
  • 3 weeks of PTO in year one, and uncapped PTO starting in year four
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Commuter/transit benefit
