Role summary

Thomas & Hutton is seeking a Civil Design Intern to gain hands-on experience in land development projects across the Southeast. This internship offers the opportunity to assist with site development plans, water/sewer/storm-drainage design, permitting, and coordination with regulatory agencies. Interns will support modeling and drafting using AutoCAD Civil 3D, collaborate with project teams, and assist with project documentation. The role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a willingness to learn in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment. What You'll Do:

  • Assist in the preparation of site-development plans for residential, commercial, and industrial projects
  • Support the design of water, sewer, and storm-drainage layouts and construction drawings
  • Assist with permit packages and coordination with regulatory agencies
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and design teams on daily project tasks
  • Support modeling and drafting efforts using AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Assist with project documentation and organization to support scope, schedule, and quality goals

    • What You Bring:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Interest in land development and site design projects
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD; exposure to Civil 3D preferred
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to learn and contribute in a team-oriented setting

    • Schedule:

    On-site: Monday–Thursday 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.; Friday 7:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m.
    (Schedule may be flexible based on academic commitments.)
