Role summary

UAB St. Vincent's, part of UAB Medicine, seeks a Director of Accounting to lead general finance operations. This role involves directing accounting activities, supervising the preparation and review of corporate financial statements, reports, and audits. Responsibilities include monitoring general ledger, accounts payable, and payroll entries, performing detailed financial analysis, analyzing projections, identifying variances, and assisting management with cost-saving measures. The Director will coordinate quarterly reporting, ensure compliance with financial and regulatory requirements, and develop/maintain accounting systems and controls. A Bachelor's degree and six years of related experience are required, with a preference for a Master's degree and four years of leadership experience. Accountant licensure is also preferred.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm

What You Will Do

Directs accounting activities and resources.

Supervises preparation of corporate financial statements, reports and audits and reviews for accuracy.
Monitors development of data and entries to general ledger, accounts payable and payroll.
Performs detailed analysis of financial information. Analyzes projections and details variances. Assists management with understanding and analyzing financial reports and developing cost savings measures.
Coordinates preparation and submission of quarterly reporting. Ensures compliance with internal financial requirements as well as regulatory requirements.
Develops, implements and maintains general accounting systems and controls ensuring best practice standards across the institution and in line with corporate guidance.

What You Will Need

Licenses / Certifications / Registrations

Accountant licensure required relevant to state in which work is performed preferred.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and a minimum of six (6) years of related experience required. Four (4) years of leadership experience preferred. Master's degree in a related field preferred.
