Role summary

WelbeHealth is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join their interdisciplinary team. This role focuses on providing quality, patient-centered care to geriatric participants, emphasizing long-term relationships and maximizing independence in ADLs. The COTA will collaborate with the Occupational Therapist and rehabilitation team to implement care plans, administer treatments, and document interventions. The position offers a unique work environment with lower patient volumes and a strong emphasis on work-life balance, along with a comprehensive benefits package. A valid California OTA license or eligibility is required, along with experience treating frail, elderly participants with complex needs. Preferred experience includes outpatient, acute, inpatient, or skilled nursing settings.

The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) is a key member of the IDT, collaborating with other members of the Rehabilitation team to implement care plans and providing condition updates to the clinical team. Under the direction of an Occupational Therapist, the COTA provides restorative and rehabilitative occupational therapy services to participants at the center and in their homes to maximize independence, safety, and performance of ADLs.

On the day-to-day, you will:

Administer participant treatment programs as established by the Occupational Therapist

Assist the Occupational Therapist in obtaining vital signs, ranges of motion, and strength testing

Coordinate with other members of the Rehabilitation team to implement activities and programs based on participants’ individual treatment plans

Handle scheduling of participants’ treatments, clinical visits, and billing

Document occupational therapy interventions in accordance with established care plans including but not limited to the use of devices, techniques, and activities to promote muscle re-education, perceptual-motor and cognitive function, balance, and endurance, and other factors affecting independence in performing ADLs

Job requirements include:

Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) associate’s degree from an accredited program

Valid California OTA license, or proof of license eligibility

OTA knowledge necessary to treat frail, elderly participants with complex needs
