Senior Cloud Engineer

Support ongoing server upgrades - moving off older OS + application versions; coordinate with applications teams (apps not always compatible with newer versions, need help keeping track of all the moving pieces

Work on cost allocation tagging across AWS (60-65 accounts; some of largest invoices; prod + dev org structure) – visibility into spend is limited today (only tagged to a certain tier), so this is in flight and ongoing

Currently using landing zone and organizations but are thinking of implementing Control Tower

Help modernize disaster recovery. Currently very manual; moving toward orchestration using tools like Elastic DR + Arpio (don’t want to build/maintain custom code)

Environment is 70-80% AWS; some corporate infrastructure left in the NYC office and corporate distribution centers. Got rid of their last data center last year.

AWS core services — Organizations, compute, storage, replication

General AWS infra patterns / architecture

Compute: EC2 instances, Lambda, RDS

Storage: EBS, S3, EFS, Glacier

Networking: VPCs, transit gateways, ALBs, NLB

EKS is a plus (used more on ecomm/digital)

Requirements

6-8 years + across cloud and systems engineering

Extensive experience with AWS and traditional infrastructure (Unix, storage, etc); understands how things work under the hood and integrates with other technology/teams

Understand infrastructure design/solid OS-level understanding – can trouble shoot storage, networking etc.

AWS expertise – past experience creating AWS environments, migrating to AWS: setting up AWS best practices etc

Experience with AWS core services – organizations, compute, storage, replication, AWS networking (VPCs transit gateways, app load balancers, network load balancers)
